Day 1
The first day combined theory and practice, taking participants from a hands-on workshop at Fattoria Il Bruco to a shared lunch at Cooperativa Densa, an afternoon visit to Giardinaggio di comunità, and a walk through Perugia's historic centre. Day one highlighted how civic agriculture initiatives can combine social inclusion, education, sustainability, and community-building in very different but complementary ways.
Fattoria Il Bruco
Fattoria il Bruco (https://www.fattoriailbruco.com/) is a farm located in Perugia. It combines agricultural production with many other activities – e.g. agritourism, social farm, educational farm and renewable energy production. It organizes educational workshops, events and training courses focused on sustainability, gardening and nutrition, and supports therapeutic, mental health or rehabilitation programmes.
Cooperativa Densa
Cooperativa Densa is a social cooperative based in Perugia. It promotes innovative learning and engagement in the fields of art, culture, urban regeneration and digital technologies. It provides space for transdisciplinary learning and empowerment of children and families experiencing educational poverty. It also brings together people and organizations to experiment with new educational approaches and design opportunities for the regeneration of places and communities.
Giardinaggio di comunità
It is a voluntary passionate civic initiative that transforms degraded urban common spaces into welcoming beautiful green spaces, bringing together flowers, handcrafted clay sculptures and local care to reclaim neglected corners of the city.
