Study visit in Italy

In April, the CIVICA project hosted a 3-day study visit in Umbria, Italy, bringing together project partners and participants from Croatia, Italy, and Greece.

The visit offered a closer look at real-life civic agriculture initiatives — including social farms, educational gardens, cooperative markets, and solidarity purchasing groups — helping participants better understand the concept and find inspiration for their future paths.

Over three days, participants had the opportunity to get to know nine very different realities up close, all united by a common vision: the ability of civic agriculture to generate social inclusion, environmental sustainability, education, and new economic opportunities. An experience that offered participants fresh perspectives and possible ideas for their own careers.

Highlights included Fattoria Il Bruco, Cooperativa Densa, Fattoria Il Mascherone, Orto Sive Natura, Birà food coop, and several other inspiring local projects, each showing a different way civic agriculture can create social, environmental, and economic value.
