Study visit in Greece

The second study visit of the CIVICA project took place in September in Athens, Greece, bringing together new participants from Italy, Croatia and Greece.

Over 3 days the visit offered a closer look at real-life civic agriculture and urban sustainability initiatives in Athens, including environmental education centres, community gardens, urban beekeeping, social enterprises, organic farms, and food hubs, helping participants better understand the concept and find inspiration for their future projects.

Over 3 days, participants had the opportunity to get to know a wide range of very different realities up close, all united by a common vision: the ability of civic agriculture and community-based green initiatives to generate education, social inclusion, environmental sustainability, and new opportunities for local communities. The experience offered participants fresh perspectives and practical ideas.

Highlights included the Centre of the Earth, Queen Amalia Tower Estate winery, Astiki Melissa, Myrtillo Cafe, Mali Veni and several other very inspiring local initiatives, each offering a different perspective on how civic agriculture can connect people, places and food.

This study visit was organised and hosted by Organization Earth, the project partner, as a part of the CIVICA project.
